The Telia buyout has several overall positive effects, in that the companies will remain in Latvia and will also help develop both the entire economic infrastructure and the securities market.
"In my opinion, it is important for the Latvian economy that such large companies, which play a large, decisive role in the development of Latvian technologies and currently also in the development of security technologies and production, are under the control of our state. Secondly, I understand that the idea is to list on the stock exchange.
So, there are several common positive effects that the companies remain in Latvia and will also help develop both the entire economic infrastructure and the securities market, and will operate as such, let's say, a technology and knowledge development center. Of course, these are large companies, and there is always this question so that they do not suppress the entire ecosystem, but I believe that this is positive," Rungainis said.
