Girts Rungainis is one of the founding Partners of Prudentia. Prior to establishing Prudentia he was one of the founding partners and the President of the German-Latvian Bank, now Swedbank, from 1992 to 1996 and the President of the Trust Commercial Bank, form 1997 to 1999. Mr. Rungainis has been a member of the Board of the Association of Latvian Commercial Banks, from 1993 to 1999 and Baltic International Airlines, as well as advisor to Prime Minister of Latvia in 1999.

Mr. Rungainis has spearheaded and led a number of major transactions in the Baltics, including the sale of the German-Latvian Bank, the IPO of Balta, the sale of Latvijas Neatkarīgā Televīzija (LNT) - the largest commercial television company in Latvia, and the sale of the controlling equity stake of Lauma - the leading Eastern European lingerie company - to a financial investor, the private placement of ELKO Grupa, one of the largest IT wholesale companies in the CEE and CIS region, and the sale of JSC Lode. Mr. Rungainis has been advising Latvian government on its majority shareholding position in the leading CEE airline AS "Air Baltic Corporation". Furthermore Mr. Rungainis has led and completed successful investor attraction process for the largest Latvian milk processing company JSC "Rīgas piena kombināts" and has consulted purchaser in acquisition of JSC "Valmieras piens" - a leading dairy company in Latvia.

In addition to that Ģirts Rungainis has been actively involved in improvement of Latvian business environment and competitiveness promotion activities through being a member of council in the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As Ģirts Rungainis considers education as basis for the growth of the Latvian economy, he, as a member of council in “Junior Achievement Latvija” and as an ambassador of University of Latvia alumni movement, devotes a lot of time for different educational projects.
